NASFAA CORE Training

We provide on-site and remote-based (via web conferencing) training services using the nationally recognized CORE training curriculum developed by the National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFAA).

Our training service covers the full range of financial aid fundamentals related to administering the federal student aid programs. With each training program, we include ExamBuilder, a web-based pre- and post-assessment learning tool. Using ExamBuilder allows ECG to target specific areas of the CORE curriculum where your school staff may demonstrate knowledge gaps. The post-assessment not only provides an assessment for the overall training, but all participants receive a detailed report on their individual results pointing out areas where they may need to strengthen their financial aid skills.

Advanced Financial Aid Staff Training

Not only can we provide advanced training on selected financial aid topics, but we also offer assistance with designing comprehensive training and operational plans, tailored to a school’s specific needs.

The advanced training areas include:

• Professional Judgment – We will provide training and assistance to review your professional judgment policy and develop operational procedures to ensure compliance with federal requirements.
• Strategic Planning – We will provide training to help your school develop an overall strategic plan for the financial aid office, including a scan of the environment, assessment of strengths and weaknesses, and development of key performance indicators to monitor the overall financial aid operations.
• Customer Service – Based on an assessment of your school needs, and using best-in-class processes, we will tailor customer service training for your financial aid staff.

In addition, when a school is seeking to rebuild or re-engineer the financial aid operations, we can assist in designing new procedures for the financial aid office—and develop and deliver a training plan covering the new system. From software to operational training, ECG can individually prepare an overall training plan for a financial aid office. Training is provided via both on-site instruction and web conferencing.

Systems Training

Our experienced financial aid consultants can provide training on all the major student information systems/financial aid management systems, including Banner, CampusVue, Colleague (Datatel), EDExpress, PeopleSoft, PowerFAIDS and others. We augment the in-person or remote training with multimedia Captivate files and other system documentation specific to your school’s needs.
